Gerald R. Black, Attorney, and Counselor have over 30 years of experience as intellectual property counsel. He was "Of Counsel" with Dykema GossettLLC in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Associate Patent Counsel with Borg-Warner Automotive, Inc., and an Intellectual Property Attorney with the Licensing Division of the Battelle Memorial Institute and the Rockwell International Corp. - Aerospace Division (now Boeing). He has gained invaluable expertise in managing global patent portfolios through his strong corporate background. Before completing law school, Mr. Black served as a systems engineer with the Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corp. Mr. Black graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He received his Juris Doctorate from Capital University Law School. Today, he is registered to practice law in Michigan, California, and Ohio and admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr. Black has conducted numerous seminars, including a one-day seminar entitled "Patents - A Global Perspective" for the Society of Automotive Engineers, with the U.S. Department of Commerce, with private corporate clients, and a two-day patent seminar in Herzliya, Israel, sponsored by Technion – the Israeli Institute of Technology.
Mr. Black is the author of "Keyword Patent Searching Online - A Workbook." The workbook uses the USPTO and the EPO search engines to obtain high-quality search results.
